Physical Mental

Doctor Visits
We are now approaching the end of the second week in April, wow that flew by fast. Last week, we asked you to take some time out and focus on your mental health. This week we are here to ask you, do you have an OBGYN? A primary care physician? A dermatologist? A dentist? Something I noticed in the black community is, after children, parents tend to keep up with the kids appointments and only worry about their own health when something is wrong. Based on a research report done by Cancer UK, almost half of cancer patients are diagnosed too late. Things that are usually caught by your primary doctor can go unseen if you aren‘t attending on an annual basis. Per the CDC, in 2016 only 64.4% of adults ages between 18-64 had visited the dentist last year. That‘s only a little over half. If you are paying for insurance every pay check GET YOUR MONEY’S WORTH!!!! We understand copays are a pain, going to the doctor and dentist annually is your best bet. Everything is 100% covered.  If you are unemployed you should already have state insurance. Going to the doctor is free for you and there’s no excuse why you aren’t seeing every doctor available.
Cardio and Dieting

It’s important to do at least 30 minutes of cardio everyday. This includes anything that would elevate your heart rate, this includes sex, walking your dog, walking to class, even shopping. We highly recommend you to invest in a fitness watch that will help you track your cardio minutes. If your goal is to shed a few pounds try to eliminate certain meats and all sodas from your diets. We have, and the pounds have fallen off and stayed off.
Water Intake

Fresh Fruit Infused Water
Everyone knows that they should drink 8 glasses of water a day but everybody isn’t doing it. We wanted to share with you what we have been doing in case you wanted to jump onboard. Below are a few benefits of adding fresh fruit to your water
Lemon: Clear skin; contains d.limonene that will detox your liver
Blueberry: Reduce DNA damage and helps prevent aging and cancer
Cucumber: Helps cool the inflammatory response in the body
Apples: Loaded with iron
Grapefruit: Flushes toxins and waste
Kiwi: Contains a cleansing enzyme called actinidin, it will leave your skin with a natural flow
Oranges: Contains flavorones, which have protein to reduce the risk of stroke and let‘s not forget it’s loaded with vitamin c
Pears: Absorb glucose, keeping you energetic
Strawberries: Contain chemical compounds called phenois that increase uric acid production and serves as an antioxidant
Raspberries: Rich in fiber
Add any of these to your tumbler, you can even mix them. Add it to your water and let it sit overnight. We usually just refill our tumblers throughout the day and change out the fruit every few days. Drinking water has never been so easy.

Love after a Fuck Boy/Girl

So you finally did it. You finally ended that bittersweet toxic relationship and it probably took you 20 tries to get it right. None of that matters. Only thing that matters now is you’re free. If you’ve been in this situation like I have, you know leaving that person alone is actually easier than moving on. It’s funny because I know that you’ve picked yourself up, stared at yourself in the mirror like: “It’s on”, “I’m about to fuck the summer up”, “I’m out here”.    You bought all the nicest outfits, reinvented your entire look, bought tickets to the hottest beaches and had a great couple of months after your breakup.  One day, after all the fun and all the trips, something triggered you. Whether it was a holiday, a wedding, or a baby shower. Something clicked, and you’re like ok I’m ready to try this shit again.  Now that you've established that you’re ready to start dating again.  You get the ball rolling however you do it.  Sliding in DM’s, Tinder, Airdrop in the c

Toxicity 1•20•2019

So we are over half way through the first month of 2019.    How many people have you actually cut off like you told all of your social media followers you would?    If your answer is no don’t feel bad.    You’re only a small percent of the millions of people being victimized by toxicity.    I also have been blinded by toxic friends, lovers, jobs and family members.    Whether you like to admit it or not, keeping toxicity around us rubs off.    You may not realize it, but because of your interactions with toxic situations and toxic people, you have acquired some toxic traits.    Hopefully after reading this article we will all start the process of removing toxicity from our lives, but I hope we also are able to identify our own toxic characteristics and avoid victimizing other people and being apart of the never ending circle. There are so many toxic situations surrounding us but the most popular are friends, lovers, family members and jobs.    Within all of these situations I’

Dining Out Budget 02•25•2019

Have you ever printed your bank statement and did a full analytic review? If not, you should. Try pulling the last three months of statements and highlighting where your money is spent the most.    My biggest money guzzler is FOOD! When I say food I definitely do not mean groceries.    I can have a fridge full of groceries and still want to dine out.    I live in a extremely diverse city where the options are massive.    Everywhere you turn there’s a restaurant serving something you never tried with drinks specials to go with it. It’s like a never ending vacation! A blessing and a curse at the same time.    When I look at my bank statements and tally up all the money spent on dining out I am completely embarrassed. Just yesterday I decided to embark a new journey. A journey that would be better for my body and my pockets. I decided to add a limit on dining out and focus on eating at home more. If you’re finding yourself in the same struggle let’s take this on together. The fi
